Where it is
Nai Harn Beach in Phuket offers two very different launches. Windmill, just below the hill of the same name at about 70 m, is a large, easy grass takeoff that needs a due-west wind — the more forgiving of the two options, reached by a short 10-minute hike from the beach's southern end (or a tuk-tuk ride). Black Rock, on the beach's northern side at around 300 m, wants a south to southwest wind and takes a longer approach: roughly 45 minutes on foot through rubber plantation and forest, or a road route toward Nui Beach. Wind direction really matters here — due west is the recommended condition; a west-southwest wind throws rotor off a nearby small island, and a west-northwest wind does the same off Leam Krating point at the north end of the bay, both making a beach landing genuinely unsafe. Top landing is fairly straightforward. Gliding out over the water to reach the beach on a low-wind day is a memorable option for pilots who already know the site, but it's not one to try on a first visit with little to no wind.

Getting there & local rules
Windmill is a roughly 10-minute hike from the southern end of the beach (or a short tuk-tuk ride). Black Rock takes about 45 minutes on foot from the northeast end of the lagoon through rubber plantation and forest, or you can drive toward Nui Beach; scooter rental runs about 200 baht a day.
