Verbier flies from three takeoffs on the same mountain system in Valais — Ruinettes (just step out of the gondola), Fontanets (15-min walk, SW/W facing, at 46.0842 N 7.2583 E), and Attelas (rarely used now, small and steep). Gondola access from Le Châble or Verbier — ask about the special paragliding pass. Multiple landings scattered around the resort (Les Esserts golf, Montaigner chapel, Champsec, and winter-only Le Châble).

Launch & conditions

Ruinettes — literally step out of the gondola. Fontanets — 15-min walk, SW/W facing (46.0842 N 7.2583 E). Attelas — rarely used anymore, small and steep.

Getting there & local rules

Gondola from Le Châble or Verbier — ask about a paragliding pass. Landings: Les Esserts (golf, windsock, can get thermic in summer); Montaigner (Chapel, windsock); Champsec (less windy in the afternoon than Montaigner, windsock); Le Châble (WINTER ONLY, 1 Dec – 15 Apr).

Local rules & hazards

Swiss airspace is complex — check active danger areas (DABS) before flying. Les Esserts LZ can get very thermic on summer afternoons.

Check conditions before you fly

A day counts as flyable when the surface wind held in your range, from a direction the site flies, with no rain, for at least 2 hours in a row (08:00–20:00) — from hourly 10 m wind over the last 12 months. A seasonal wind guide only: it can't judge gusts, thermals or turbulence, and never replaces the live forecast, airspace checks and your own judgement.
