Where it is
Monte S. Vittoria launches at 1,204 m in central Sardinia, near Esterzili, with a very large take-off area that gives plenty of room to prepare, and top landing is possible directly back at launch. Access is straightforward: take road 53 between Esterzili and Escalaplano, then follow the signs toward Santa Vittoria mountain along an easy, fully asphalted road all the way up. The site's best conditions come with wind from the west or south-west, matching the broader recorded range of south-west, west and north-west. Thermal, soaring and cross-country flying are all supported here, and the generous launch size means multiple pilots can prepare and launch without the congestion that cramped take-offs create. Between the paved drive-up access, the spacious launch and the option to top-land, Monte S. Vittoria is one of the more convenient and welcoming sites in this part of Sardinia, best flown on its favoured west or south-west wind.
