Rokh – south

Rokh South is one of the Iranian sites in the Gardaneh Rokh area south-west of Isfahan — the southern of two launch positions on the same pass. Compared to the northern Rokh takeoff it is relatively small; launches happen one pilot at a time facing south. Beginners are not permitted here, and there isn't enough space for paramotors. Autumn and summer are the best seasons; spring is described locally as exceptional. South wind gives smooth thermal flying and ridge conditions with long durations.

One small takeoff — smaller than the northern Rokh launch. Pilots take off one at a time facing south. NOT for beginners; not enough space for paramotors.

Getting there & local rules

By car or taxi from Esfahan (Isfahan) to Shahr-e Kord, then Zarin Shahr to Borujen. About 4 km before the tunnel, take the road towards Saman — a radio tower is visible up the mountain on the left. Near the road there's a Red Crescent (Helal Ahmar) office; a path from there leads up to takeoff. Landings: land almost anywhere. The recommended LZ is near the poultry-farming path (visible on the left from launch), at coordinates ~35°19'31''N 51°02'00''E, elevation 2,237 m.

Local rules & hazards

Takeoff runway is very short and ends at a row of rocks — take off immediately. Beginners not allowed unaccompanied. South wind gives smooth thermal flying with long durations. Autumn and summer are the best seasons.
