Agy plane

Agy Plane sits above Cluses in the French Alps and offers endless XC lines from a grassy launch familiar to acro pilots — locally known as one of Antoine's secret training spots. For acro, pilots make a short crossing from Agy to Chevran, where the sun-driven valley wind (sucked into Chamonix on good days) displaces up the Chevran face in a mix of dynamic and thermic — a mini magic mountain giving 600–800 m of vertical to work with over Cluses. Strong valley wind and thermic gusts are part of the deal here; locals will be flying. Read the FFVL site board at launch (English available) before you take off.

Getting there & local rules

From Cluses, follow signs to Les Gets/Morzine. At Chatillon-sur-Cluses, turn right at the sign for Saint-Sigismond. At the end of Saint-Sigismond, turn left and follow the road all the way up to Agy Plane; at the top of the mountain road there's a small bar/restaurant — continue further up and park by the radio tower / satellite building.

Local rules & hazards

The LZ is delicate — absolutely avoid outlandings. Bise (strong NE wind) can ruin most valley winds and affect the day. Northerlies mixing with valley wind, if forecast to blow hard, are only good for small wings. Expect thermic gusts from the town of Cluses entering the lower-level valley wind — a technical landing at the peak of the valley breeze, much smoother later in the evening.
