Fronalpstock

Fronalpstock launches at about 1,883 m facing west, reached by gondola or chairlift from Morschach or Stoos, so getting to a genuinely high alpine start doesn't require a long hike. Föhn is a real factor in this area, and it's worth checking the Föhn forecast rather than judging conditions purely by what launch looks like. Landing takes a bit of local knowledge: the landing zone in Morschach is only usable when the grass has been cut, so on a day when it hasn't been mown, pilots use the Brunnen landing zone instead. As with Swiss sites generally, checking current airspace and active danger-area information before flying is worth doing rather than assuming last season's picture still holds. Between the easy mechanical access, the alpine views over Lake Lucerne and the grass-dependent landing choice, it rewards checking conditions at both ends of the flight before committing.
