Where it is
Costão do Frade in Bom Retiro, Santa Catarina, is a largely unexplored Brazilian flying site — an easy, calm launch about 10 km from town, close to the highest point of the state. It works both on ridge lift and thermals, with excellent XC conditions when you find lift. Suitable for all pilots, including beginners. The lack of local pilots means very little traffic and quiet skies; landings are limited close in but open up dramatically for anyone who can climb out.

Getting there & local rules
10 km from Bom Retiro city — ask any local for 'Costão do Frade' and they can point you. Park on the small road (no formal parking lot), then hike about 90 min / 2 km with ~450 m elevation gain to launch. Trail is easy-to-medium — children can do it without big effort. Bom Retiro is 120 km from Florianópolis and 90 km from Lages. Landings: a few good options directly in front of launch, below the mountain, plus plenty of choices near BR282 for anyone who can climb out and glide the opposite direction. Keep all gates closed and leave the area clean.
